Smith claims Commonwealth title

After being ruled out of the World Juniors in August due to ill heatlh Sophie Smith returned to form to claim the 200m Ind Medley Commonwealth title in the Isle of Man.

Over the Three day event Sophies great early season speed helped her claim two gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

Combing with her England team mates Sophie swam the Freestyle leg of the Medley team to secure her second gold in the final female event of the swimming.

Individual medals also came in the 100m and 200m Freestyle events in new personal bests and the 4x100m Freestyle team.

Cooper wins double gold at UK Games

Harriet Cooper made her first UK School Games appearance by striking gold in both of her events.

Harriet representing England Central in Sheffield stormed to victory in the 50m freestyle final in 27.11. She then swam the fastest leg of her team's victorious 4x100m freestyle final.

"I'm really pleased with how my racing went," said Cooper. "Going into it, I was really nervous because I haven't been in the pool for a while. "This is my first UK School Games so I was just going into it planning on doing my best."It's just been an amazing experience meeting all the different people from different areas and sports."


Thorpe takes National Youth Title

At the recent ASA National Youth Championships in Sheffield Jamie Thorpe claimed his second career national title. Competing in the 17/18yrs 50m Freestyle Jamie lead from start to finish to take the gold medal in a new personal best and county record.

Jamie also competed in the 17/18yrs 100m Freestyle and preduced a new personal best to qualify for the Freestyle final where he finish 10th.
